Tiger Cane Resveratrol

The Lost History of the Modern Anti-Aging Breakthrough

Over the last 200 years, medical researchers first observed, and later coined the phrase "French Paradox" to describe the lower incidence of heart disease even in the presence of a high fat diet in the Mediterranean population.

In recent years, red wine was identified as a probable source for the cholesterol and heart disease lowering effects hidden somewhere in the French diet.

However more recently, one particular constituent ingredient of red wine has been identified as the key ingredient that produces these amazing health and longevity benefits. This potent molecule called "trans-resveratrol" (more commonly, "resveratrol") is being aggressively researched as a potential treatment for a variety of chronic and deadly diseases.

Resveratrol's benefits have been heavily researched and have produced a number of high-quality peer-reviewed scientific medical journal articles. These extraordinary discoveries for resveratrol include:

  • Resveratrol enhances motor skills [1]
  • Resveratrol is a potent antioxidant [2, 3, 4, 5].
  • Resveratrol as a preventive for heart disease[6, 7, 8]
  • Resveratrol prevents problems following a heart attack [9]
  • Resveratrol lowers atherosclerosis (precursor to heart disease) [10, 11, 12]
  • Resveratrol regulates ventricular arrhythmias (missed beats, fast or slow beats) [13]
  • Resveratrol as preventive medicine for sports injuries [14]
  • Resveratrol lowers blood pressure (but only when it is high!)[15]
  • Resveratrol repairs injured arteries (specifically the big one arising from the heart) [16]
  • Resveratrol provides hepatoprotective actions (lowers enzymes, protects the liver) [17]
  • Resveratrol slows aging and increases lifespan [18]
  • Resveratrol decreases prostate-specific antigen (PSA) [19]
  • Resveratrol reduces the damage in experimentally induced colitis [20]

There is some big money to be made by the pharmaceutical industry just as soon as this resveratrol can be potentiated well beyond how it appears in nature. This may provide for some incredible breakthroughs in the treatment of cancer, diabetes, and even heart disease (not just as preventive, but to treat damage to the heart muscle following a heart attack). These are all well and good, but the further we modify the resveratrol molecule from how it appears in nature, the more likely that these new super-potent forms will also generate side-effects which naturally arise when you're putting something into the body that doesn't otherwise exist in our diet.

Fortunately, at least for now, resveratrol is freely available in a concentration and form that is not especially different from the form that appears in red wine and Chinese medicine's Tiger Cane (Rhizoma Polygoni cuspidati, Polygonum, Japanese Knotweed, or "Hu Zhang").

Resveratrol's antioxidant and longevity claims are well documented, but the forgotten relationship of resveratrol to a Chinese herb known as "hu zhang" practically unknown. Hu Zhang has been used safely for roughly 1,500 years. Hu Zhang translates to "Tiger Cane". The name arises from the variegated color of its stem, apparently reminding the ancient Chinese of the colors of the tiger.

Tiger Cane's extraordinarily potent (and completely natural) source of resveratrol has been documented in the Chinese medical archives for roughly 1,500 years. The earliest references to Tiger Cane say that it invigorates the blood, dispels stasis, unblocks the channels, and stops pain. These observations resonate quite closely with the observed "French Paradox" for preventing heart disease (by invigorating the flow of blood) as well as many of the other exciting health benefits that resveratrol provides.
